The Philosophy Behind Bespoke

Fine jewelry is made in precious metals such as 18K gold and platinum, set with natural gems, and designed to last. That is the baseline. What makes a piece meaningful is how it reflects the wearer.

Fine jewelry does not have to be conventional. It simply has to be well-considered. Our bespoke commissions range from classic solitaire engagement rings refined to a millimeter, to bold, sculptural statement rings that break the mold entirely. Both are approached with the same respect for proportion, finish, and wearability.

The Palladium Gold Advantage

Bespoke means choosing materials that mass production leaves behind. One of our key offerings is 18K Palladium White Gold.

Most commercial white gold contains nickel or other cheap alloys, making it prone to allergies and requiring constant rhodium plating to stay white. We use palladium — a rare, premium metal from the platinum family — to alloy our white gold. The result is a natural, warm grey-white metal that never needs plating and is 100% hypoallergenic.

Mass-market jewelers avoid palladium because it is expensive and hard to cast. For a custom piece made to last a lifetime, we believe it is the only way to make white gold.

A Note on Sizing

All GROMOV rings are made to your size, and finding the correct fit is critical before production begins. When establishing your size, consider these factors:

Measure in the afternoon. Fingers are often slightly larger later in the day, so afternoon measurements are more reliable.
Wide bands fit tighter. A ring 6 mm or wider will feel more snug than a delicate band. If ordering a wide ring, you often need a quarter to half size larger.
Hot climates matter. In warm or humid weather, fingers can swell, which is why climate should be considered if you are sizing during winter.

What is the price range for custom-designed jewelry?

Custom and bespoke projects at GROMOV typically begin at $3,000. The final price depends on the stones, the design complexity, and the weight of the gold or platinum. We establish a clear budget framework during the discovery phase.

How long does it typically take to receive a custom-made piece?

Bespoke pieces take 3 to 5 weeks after you approve the sketch. Custom changes to our existing designs take about 1 to 2 weeks.

Can I provide my own design or inspiration?

Yes. We welcome your references and ideas, but we do not replicate pieces from other brands. Valeriy Gromov interprets your inspiration through the studio's architectural and sculptural language to create something entirely unique.

What materials are commonly used in your bespoke jewelry?

We work only in solid 18K gold and 950 Platinum. Our white gold is alloyed with palladium. We source natural, untreated gems and ethical diamonds. We never use hollow forms or cheap plating.

Is there a difference in quality between mass-produced and custom jewelry?

Historically, fine jewelry was exclusively made to order. Mass production is a recent invention that strips jewelry of its personal meaning. Mass-market pieces are cast by the thousands and polished by machines. A bespoke GROMOV piece returns to the craft's roots: forged, built, and finished by hand. It carries the weight, balance, and strength needed to last a lifetime.

Can custom jewelry be resized or adjusted after purchase?

Our designs often have detailed, continuous textures. Resizing them takes extreme care. This is why we focus heavily on finding your exact fit before we make the piece.

Do you make custom engagement rings and wedding bands?

Yes. Engagement rings and wedding bands are designed from scratch around your stone, proportions, and story. They can be designed to sit perfectly together or to stand alone as statement pieces.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. We work with clients internationally and arrange secure, fully insured worldwide shipping once the piece is finished.
